Plane Crash Kills Family

December 21, 2011

The Butler family was on their way from Atlanta to Waco when their plane crashed during a rainstorm in Central Texas. The Piper Saratoga aircraft crashed into a field Monday night north of College Station. The pilot and 4 others were killed in the plane crash.

Cypress Hospital Patient Injured in Fire

December 14, 2011

A patient at North Cypress Medical Center was injured Tuesday afternoon when the hospital bed and blankets caught fire. The blaze was started by a cigarette lighter the patient was using. The patient was on oxygen at the time which is extremely flammable.

The hospital staff was able to extinguish the fire and the patient was moved to the Emergency Room for treatment.

Tractor Driver Drowns

November 17, 2011

The body of a tractor driver was found Monday night in a canal in Jefferson County. Enrique Aguilar of Groves was mowing the grass along the canal when the tractor slipped off the levee and rolled into the water. The cause of death was determined to be accidental drowning.

3 Deadly Wrecks Over the Weekend

November 7, 2011

The first of three fatal accidents happened on U.S. 59 between Splendora and Cleveland. A motorhome pulling another vehicle ran off the road and into some trees. The motorhome caught on fire and the driver and passenger could not be rescued from the burning vehicle.

The second incident happened Morton Rd. on Friday evening when a teen driver ran into a tree. She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The third of these single-vehicle crashes happened Saturday morning on S. Gessner. The car was swerving and then struck a curb. The vehicle lost control and hit a tree killing the driver.

ACU Bus Rollover Injures Passengers

November 5, 2011

A single vehicle bus crash on Friday on U.S. Highway 83 near Paint Rock, TX resulted in 16 seriously injured passengers and one death. The Abilene Christian University students and faculty were on their way to a mission project at Medina Children’s Home when the bus veered off the road and hit a concrete culvert. Multiple people were ejected from the bus and the roof was ripped off. Helicopters were at the scene to transport victims to the hospital.
